Britain’s mega rock band Oasis has always been plagued with turmoil. So the news of the second drummer asked to leave the band shouldn’t come as a surprise to fans.
Recently, the news of the departure of Alan White was released by the remaining members of Oasis on the band’s official website, oasisinet.com. The guys are in no rush to replace White, who joined the band in 1995 after original drummer Tony McCarroll was also asked to leave. Oasis songwriter Noel Gallagher will fill in on drums in the studio and a session musician will come into the role as needed when live dates arise.
All of the original band members are gone now except for brothers Noel and Liam. McCarroll, Paul Arthurs and Paul McGuigan all left the band prior to 2000.
There are rumblings of another album in the works, which would follow the successful, critically acclaimed Heathen Chemistry. Released in 2002, the band’s fifth studio album displayed a new level of maturity as Liam revealed his songwriting abilities. Prior to that, brother Noel held most of the songwriting duties. Oasis experienced its greatest commercial success with (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? with the hit songs “Champagne Supernova” and “Wonderwall.” Debut album Definitely Maybe earned the prestige of becoming the UK’s most successful album of 1995.
Our Thoughts
Seems kind of odd that the only remaining original members of Oasis are brothers Gallagher. Rumors of hostility within have always plagued the band and moves like this suggest they may be true.
