Stone Temple Pilots Say 'Thanks'

One of the most commercially successful rock acts of the nineties is celebrating 11 years with the release of a CD/DVD of greatest hits.

The Stone Temple Pilots are showing their appreciation for their hard-fought success with Thank You, a 15-track CD of hits with one new tune, “All In The Suit You Wear” and a DVD featuring covers of Aerosmith’s “Sweet Emotion” and Glen Campbell’s “Wichita Lineman.” The three-hour DVD will include live performances of several songs and videos. The CD/DVD will be released in the U.S. on November 11.

Although STP has become a rock radio favorite, the years together have not been easy. Despite several hits with songs like “Plush,” “Vasoline” and “The Big Empty,” it has taken STP a long time to gain the respect it deserves beyond unfair consideration as Pearl Jam clones. But their albums continue to reinforce their talent as they work to overcome personal demons. For several years, singer Scott Weiland has been battling a drug addiction that has kept him frequenting jail cells and even threatened the band’s future in 1997. As he worked to come clean, the band recorded another album, Talk Show without his vocals. As recent as August, however, Weiland was sentenced to three years probation on two felony drug possession charges. Conditions include Weiland's participation in a drug rehab program.

Despite everything, the STP members, brothers Robert and Dean DeLeo (bassist, guitarist respectively) drummer Eric Kretz and Weiland have fought hard to continue the ride.

Here is the track list for Thank You:

Vasoline
Down
Wicked Garden
Big Empty
Plush
Big Bang Baby
Creep
Lady Picture Show
Trippin’ On A Hole In A Paper Heart
Interstate Love Song
All In The Suit You Wear
Sex Type Thing
Days Of The Week
Sour Girl
Plush (acoustic)

Our Thoughts

Band mates Robert, Dean and Eric have not given up on talented Scott Weiland even though his drug problems continue to weigh them down.
