When a media organization such as Mp3.tv becomes involved as a major sponsor of an Italian Ferrari racing team, it hopes the prestige that comes with the association is worth the investment. This year, our involvement with DR Sportequipe has exceeded our expectations.

On Oct. 19th and 20th over 50,000 fans witnessed our DR 360 Challenge racecar win the Italian National Championship. Mp3.tv was there and treasured every moment of the event.

Before we continue, we know you’re probably wondering how this relates to our music news web site… Well, it is the vehicle (please excuse the pun) that we have chosen to help brand our Mp3.tv label. It’s not the first time we’ve done so: besides this sponsorship, Mp3.tv has supported numerous charitable organizations as well as music events such as the North American 2002 tour for the rock band Lodown. However, regarding our connection to Ferrari, we, at Mp3.tv, want to be involved with a company that has enjoyed amazing worldwide success over the past four years.

This is the first time our daily lead article on the Mp3.tv site is dedicated to a subject other than music. However, we believe established partnerships such as this assist in branding our web site on a global scale justifying this article’s prominent position on our site. With that said, fasten your seatbelts as we take you along for the ride…

On Sunday, we were treated to an exciting demonstration drive by the four Scuderia Ferrari drivers: world champion Michael Schumacher, runner-up Rubens Barrichello and test drivers Luca Badoer and Luciano Burti, with all four at the wheel of a F2002. They put on a thrilling show, each driver stopping in the pits once to change tires. This demonstration ended with all four world championship-winning cars crossing the line together.

At the end of the demonstration, President Montezemolo and Jean Todt, the drivers, as well as the entire test team saluted the crowd in the grandstands. A large Ferrari silk cover as wide as the track itself was unraveled with overwhelming approval from the crowd, and paraded along the entire length of the home stretch. The hospitality of the Italian people and that of our hosts was superb.

We extend our congratulations to the complete DR Sportequipe team. They have promoted our web site exceptionally.

We are especially proud of the performance of the driver of our car, Nicola Gianniberti. This extremely talented young driver is a world-class athlete. We spoke with his mother Fausta who attended the event with her husband Joseph and their daughter Barbara. Of course, she is also very proud of her son and has always believed in his abilities. She told us that since the time Nicola was very young, he has been in love with racing and automobiles. The love of racing must run in the genes: his father was also a racecar driver. Nicola has raced throughout the world in professional competition since the age of twelve, working his way up to the current Ferrari Challenge circuit that in Italy is second only to Formula One in popularity.

In the world championship race on Sunday, we witnessed our mp3.tv sponsored racecar commence in second position and get bumped into the midfield of the track early in the race sending Nicola to the back of the field. Both the skills of our driver and the precision of our automobile were tested, but with each lap completed Nicola recovered his placement closer to the front. Unfortunately, the twenty-lap race did not give our car enough time to catch the leader. We completed the race in sixth spot – a very respectable finish.

We are very proud of our relationship with the DR organization and the success they have realized over this past year.

We are also very pleased to have been involved in this year’s Ferrari Challenge circuit. Mp3.tv has made a commitment to remain a sponsor of the DR Sportequipe car into the 2003 season and we look forward to continued relations that will be mutually beneficial for both Mp3.tv and DR Sportequipe.
