After a successful run as a band making music and an impact on airwaves since 1996, Sum 41 has started moving in a different way.
The guitarist of the band, Dave Baksh (otherwise known as "Dave Brownsound") is separating from the group and starting his own band called, "Brown Brigade".
On a statement found on the official message board, front man of the band, Deryck Whibley, told his fans the truth about the entire ordeal:
"Dave has left the band. He was sick of this whole life and would have more fun playing in his own classic metal band. so we respect that. There's no hard feelings what so ever. The fact is Dave lost interest a long time ago."
Whibley continues to reassure fans that although there will be a change in the group, it will not have any affect on the group's music or creative sound.
They have also made it clear that they do not plan on replacing Baksh's spot in the band, although they do plan on hiring someone that will tour with them, but will not be present during any publicity or media.
The remaining members of the band are currently working on the band's next album, which is yet to be named.
Whibley shared his thoughts on his predictions of the upcoming album on the website:
"I can't really describe it yet; The songs still haven't taken full form yet. We have a whole bunch of half songs and ideas. All I can say is that I know without a doubt that this will be by far our best album yet."
Our Thoughts
We hope that the loss of a band member will not affect either their popularity or their music.
