The Eurythmics is back at it again, since their last batch of new music six years ago.
The British duo (Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart) formed in 1980 and are best known for the strong and intelligent pop music.
In 1991, the duo decided that a hiatus would be best. Lennox told billboard, “I wanted a family, and they don't come off a shelf”.
During the Eurythmics' hiatus, they both went on to make a name for themselves as solo artists. Lennox released her solo album, “Diva”, and Stewart formed a band, “Spiritual Cowboys” (which released two albums).
In 1999, however, Lennox and Stewart reunited and released the album, “Peace”. Thus far, this album has been the last album that they have created with all new material.
In 2003, Stewart remastered the band's eight studio albums and also put together two additional discs that feature rare studio singles that have not been released or heard before in a special band box set.
Due to their label's restructuring, the special expanded albums have not been released, but it has been stated that the box set will be available in November 2005.
Also releasing in November 2005 is the album, “Ultimate Collection” will be sold which will include a remastered greatest hits package as well as two new songs.
One of the songs is, “I've Got a Life” which was recently released as a single.
When asked about whether the duo will be touring to back up the “Ultimate Collection”, Lennox told Billboard, “I'm always amazed when people ask us. We don't know.”
Our Thoughts
Their highly positive and intelligent songs have been inspiration for many people. We are glad that the duo is still able to make great music after being together for over twenty years and being on hiatus for over seven.
