In an unfortunate turn of events that occurred in late September, the Nine Inch Nails' drummer, Jerome Dillon, was hospitalized due to a heart condition.
This has been the second time that Dillon has been hospitalized due to heart complications. During his last visit to the hospital, Dillon blogged on the official NIN website (nin.com) and blamed “fatigue and exhaustion” as the culprits behind his visit.
The first visit to the hospital was caused by the Nine Inch Nails' tour opener show in San Diego, where Dillon collapsed on stage.
Although Dillon was able to get up and back into the tour bus to enthusiastically continue touring, this time he is not so lucky.
Nine Inch Nails is currently in the middle of their fall tour with fellow band, Queens of the Stone Age.
While Dillon is left in the sidelines to watch, the band had gotten a replacement drummer to fill in Dillon's place for the remainder of the tour.
Australian drummer, Alex Carapetis, will be taking Dillon's place for the fall tour.
On the official Nine Inch Nails website, frontman Trent Reznor explains, “I can't begin to tell you what a difficult job it is to replace your drummer in this band, and these guys have truly risen to the high-pressure situation that it is.”
Carapetis has done work with Delta Goodrem, Lenny Kravitz and various Austrailian bands and acts.
In some Nine Inch Nails shows in Salt Lake City and Denver, the drummer position was villed in by Josh Freese. Freese was a a drummer for the punk band, The Vandals, and is currently holding the title as being among the “top two drummers in the world”.
Our Thoughts
The small break away from the spotlight and some time to rest might just be the perfect thing to help Jerome Dillon.
