Jack White Preparing to Record New White Stripes Album

After winning two Grammy awards with country music veteran Loretta Lynn, Jack White told MTV he’s eager to get back to his hometown of Detroit to begin recording the new White Strips album.
"I'm going home to record in a couple of days," White said, "and it should be done pretty quick."
With the band’s publicist having no idea what White was talking about, details for the White Stripes fifth album are far and few between. But the singer/guitarist/producer/songwriter has a reputation for working at full speed. Working at breakneck pace just seems to be part of his nature.
"I've done it [this way] for a long time, in my attic and out of my house, making 45s for bands. When bands would come to town, they'd stay at my house and we'd cut an album. [We'd do the same thing with] local Detroit bands," White said. "I've been doing it for as long as I've been writing, and for as long as I've had bands, I've been recording. I never knew too much about the technical side, I just wanted to get things on tape that were soulful. And that's the same thing with [Van Lear Rose]. It was on 8-track, and we did it in 12 days."
White has also been busy making an album with a friend from Detroit, Brendan Benson. On top of all this, there’s also Lynn’s follow up album to Van Lear Rose, which was awarded Grammys for Best Country Album and Best Country Collaboration With Vocals for the song "Portland Oregon." Although White’s schedule is a bit tight right now, Lynn has already expressed interest in working with him again.
"We haven't talked too much lately. He's been working, and I have too," she said. "We will try to do some songs together pretty soon. I would like to get with him and write some stuff for my new album."
Our Thoughts
We always knew Jack White was an extremely talented musician, but who knew he’d have the ability to cross so many genres.
